A magnificent pair of drop earrings by the designer Alfred Philippe for the American company Trifari. These pieces of jewelry are composed of a frame, which resembles a small knot with on top a bow, and underneath a drop shaped dangle hanging from the frame. The knot contains two clear baguette cut rhinestones (or crystals), the bow is set with small clear round cut rhinestones. The edges of the drops are also set with small clear rhinestones and in the centre each drop has a beautiful clear pear cut rhinestone or crystal. The base metal frames have very nice rhodium plating. Both clips are in good working condition, they keep tight, but still some space to report. The earrings are marked on both clips “Trifari”, the crown over the T, and “Pat.Pend.” (patent pending). The patent of this design by Alfred Philippe has been registered on September 2nd 1952 with the number 167,650. Good vintage condition; some stones have yellowed and one small rhinestone seems to have been replaced and is not original. Any dark spots on the photos are reflections of camera or background. Beautiful sparkling stones, probably crystals. Glamorous, yet sophisticated jewelry. Opportunity for collectors !
