Shops Table cloth Tiger

Crafted by a Peranakan-owned atelier, this tiger table cloth was to welcome the Year of the Tiger. Although the tiger is an important symbol in Chinese culture, it is rarely featured in batiks made in Java's coastal area whose batik business used to be run by Chinese descendants.

The tiger represents the greatest earthly power, as well as protection over human life. It chases away the so-called “three disasters”: fire, thieves and ghosts. The ancient Chinese believed that tigers turned white after they had lived for five centuries and that tigers could live for an entire millennium.

We love the vibrant colors red and yellow, which in Chinese culture represent good luck (red) and wealth (yellow, for it resembles the color of gold). It surely spices up your favorite space at home.
