Antique Pure Cream shops of Tartar General Store Tin Primitive Antique

This is a nice tin Cream of Tartar General Store container. It has about 90% of its original red base paint. The graphics are quite clear and shows an oasis setting just at the gates of town shops with four camels and riders. The paint and the color is very good for its age. On the front it says Pure above the picture and CR TARTAR (Cream of Tartar) below the picture. On the lid that opens it is hard to read the letters, but it is looks like Beatty & ? on the first line, 192 ? street address on the next line, and then New York.
The top flat part says Union Mills but it is faint. There is a very small tear to the tin near the porcelain knob, very few dents, and some dings to the paint throughout. There is some surface rust on the bottom but no holes and there is very minimal surface rust on the inside bottom of the tin. It is possible the porcelain knob has been replaced or reattached. It dates to around late 1800s. Just a great looking tin in very good condition!!

Cream of tartar is a dry, powder-like, acidic byproduct of winemaking called for in a myriad of different baking recipes (from cookies to cakes to frosting). It was sold at general stores in small amounts.

It measures: 10 inches high, 6.5 wide and 8 inches deep.
