This original botanical watercolour piece featuring the English Oak was created as the seasons shifted from warm to cool. Witnessing seasonal definition for the first time in my life has been such a gift. This piece is a little love letter to Autumn, so if you are someone who loves curling up with a good book and a cup of tea on a cozy tea this piece was made with that in mind.

Deciduous shops trees shed their leaves as the days grow colder to conserve energy and to protect the trees from blowing over in the windier winter months. As light levels and temperatures drop, a plant hormone called auxin flows to the leaves and levels of another hormone, ethene, rise. This causes the cell walls to weaken and basically creates the same effect as perforated paper, causing the leaves to drop.

This botanical A4 original art piece is done on 250gsm watercolour paper. It's packaged using recycled materials where possible and wrapped in a cellophane bag to stop damage and water intrusion.
