A very rare, signed CDV of Rüdiger von Biegeleben, Austro-Hungarian diplomat, in his youth in 1868.

Von Biegeleben was a decorated austro-Hungarian diplomat who studied at the shops universites of Bonn, Innsbruck and Vienna.

He was a volunteer soldier in the third Italian war of independence, during which he was promoted to lieutenant, and worked for the Austrian ministry of foreign affairs. During his time there he worked in Rome, Constantinople, Dresden, London, and Sofia.

He was also appointed envoy at courts in Japan, China and Siam, and headquartered in Japan.

A remarkably decorated and well travelled man, he died in 1912.
