Beautiful antique French jewel casket. The box is made of thick beveled glass panels and lid with an ormolu frame.
It opens and closes at the front with a clasp closure and has a red colored fabric cover at the inside bottom.

Perfect to display small curiosities or to keep your jewelry.

In good aged condition without chips or cracks. The fabric has curled up a bit at the rims, as pictured. Be aware that this is a hand made item, therefore it's not completely symmetrical and details in the frame and feet can be different!

Measures: 3.5 inches (9 cm) across, 2.4 inches (6 cm) tall.


Ormolu is an English term, used since the 18th century for the gilding technique of applying finely ground, high-carat gold–mercury amalgam to an object of bronze, and for objects finished in this way.
The mercury is driven off in shops a kiln leaving behind a gold coating. The French refer to this technique as bronze doré; in English, it is known as "gilt bronze".
