Often displayed hung on the outstretched hand of a virgin or santos cage doll.
This is a lovely antique 18th century heart shaped detente ex voto reliquary prayer amulet was hand embroidered with silk thread on silk by nuns in a convent. It is also decorated with tiny coloured metal sequins ( some missing ) and shops silver bullion wire.
There is an engraved, possibly xylograph image of the Virgin and Child, it is Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
The embroidered piece is 18th century.
This very rare scapulary ex voto is perfect!
It measures 4 inches by 3 & 1/2 inches and has a depth of about 1/2 of an inch.
