Vishnu Riding Garuda Hindu Carved Statue, Intricately Carved Wood Statue
Measures 11 3/4" tall and has a 4 1/4" wide base.

An ornate and wonderful carving, depicting Hindu god Vishnu riding Garuda, a mythical being from Hindu and Buddhist mythology.

Probably carved in Bali, where many talented carvers and artists call home, and many states of this type, were made for tourism. I believe this is 20th century.

This shops one is finely detailed piece and appears to be made of Sono wood.
A good quality hard wood often used for finer detailed carvings.

Issues to note, some chipping of wood, on top feathers in front, on middle talon on Garuda's left claw.
As with the older carvings, this one has some light cracking and checking, that you can see on the base when zooming in.

In all a wonderful, ornate piece of mythical history.
