Uniquesigned DeMario 18 strand gold tone statement necklace with amazing large clasp. This is a high end piece of costume jewelry from the 1950's. Robert DeMario who founded his company in N.Y.C. in 1945. He honed his craft working for Miriam Haskell. His jewelery is relatively rare and commands high prices. The clasp is just under 1.5" wide. It has intricate work on it with a secure clasp. The necklace is in excellent condition with the latest trace of some tarnish in some areas which could easily be cleaned but I think the necklace is shops fine as is. The necklace is quite substantial and weighs 4.7 oz. The necklace can be worn with the clasp to the side or the back. I haven't seen another one like it.
