Blacksmith's shops hot set top tool

The hot set is meant to be used in conjunction with a striker to define sharp corners and transitions in a workpiece. It is a very effective way to make a sharp transition with accuracy. The tool is only friction fit and unwedged, to minimize the transfer of vibrations into user's hand. If the head starts slipping from the head, just hit the back of the handle and you are ready to continue working. The back side is unhardened, so it can be safely struck wit a sledge without damaging it.

- The head is made from a 45mm square
- handle from plain oiled ash wood
- Forged from 4142 steel, hardened and tempered to enable years of shops heavy use
