1930's-40's Hat / Black Straw / Tilt / Pleated Jersey Strap / Genuine Bakelite shops Clasp

Description / Late 1930's-early 40's tilt hat - measures 7 inches. Shiny layered black straw with amazing sculpted detailing. There is a pleated jersey strap; each side measures 6.5 inches, with some give. Genuine Bakelite clasp in light gold; one element looks like the Pi symbol. Tested positive for Bakelite using both Simichrome polish and Formula 409. The height of the hat is about 2.5 inches. Lined with a grosgrain ribbon band.

Size / Tagged a 22 1/2. Tilt style. Universal fit.

Label / Early Consumer Protection Label.

Condition / This hat has earned itself an "EXCELLENT"" rating, per the Condition Chart below. No odor. The hat is in wonderful condition. There is a narrow line of discoloration (make-up residue) on the interior edge around the front. Some slight color variation in the Bakelite.

CONDITION CHART:
MINT - Pristine, perfect, as new, no flaws or wear evident.
EXCELLENT - Used with no noticeable flaws.
VERY GOOD - Used with minor flaws, no repairs needed.
GOOD - Visible wear, minor flaws and/or optional repairs needed.
FAIR - Numerous flaws, repairs needed, likely fragile. Restoration possible.
POOR - Extensive damage. Use for display or study. (I rarely sell items with this rating).
