Lists to #36 (1959) in book and on front flap, Vickie Barr #12 (1958) on rear flap, and Dana Girls #20 (1958) on rear dj. Copyright page states,"This new story for today's readers is based on the original of the same title." That original had a copyright of 1930. This is the first printing of the revised text, removing stereotypes and updating shops the story. In 1959 Grosset used a promotion of offering a free volume # 2 when volume # 1 was purchased on several of their children's series. This was the only printing with the overprinted dj. According to Farah, 1959C-81. It is very scarce.

Blue tweed boards are clean, with toning at spine and edges. Minimal wear, with a rub at top of spine. Hinges are intact and binding is tight. Blue multi-scene endpapers are clean. No ownership markings. Pages are clean but very mildly toned. The dj has small chips and tiny tears at edges and is in new mylar.
