This is a beautiful alexandrite from Brazil. This gem has a few crystalline inclusions but shops it's very clear overall. It has a very subtle color change from light purple to a bit pink with blueish hints. If it had more of a color change it would be a much more expensive gem.

I've carefully wire wrapped it in yellow gold wire and suspended it from a cable style chain. The setting is safer than it looks as there is a hole drilled through the gem that the wire passes through.

The chain will be made up at time of purchase and is a custom order so not returnable.



Alexandrite's rarity is a result of its chemical makeup; alexandrite can only form when aluminum and beryllium combine with trace elements like iron, titanium and, most importantly, chromium--which causes alexandrite's color change and is very rarely found in nature. The unlikelihood of the rare element chromium being in the right place to combine with aluminum and beryllium under exactly the right conditions to create alexandrite is what makes it so rare and valuable.


Gamblers favour Alexandrite, as they believe wearing it improves chances of winning. (color changes of the stone emphasize the changeability of fortune). Alexandrite makes its wearer more calm and peaceful and can be therefore a good talisman for people with anxiety or are quick to anger.


Healing properties

Alexandrite is a stone with strong powers; it reacts to a change in the wearer's health by changing its color. It is believed that Alexandrite can improve blood circulation, purify blood and strengthen blood vessels vessels; it also positively influences spleen and pancreas.
