-About the artist-

I came from a family of ten; my parents, five brothers and two sisters. My parents and four of my siblings were born in Sicily (Italy). They moved from Italy, to live in Canada where myself and three siblings were born before moving to, our destination, America.

You can have good moments with a large family, but you can also get lost in the shuffle. At times I would hide to find myself. Eventually I would get found and sent back to reality, where I catered to the household. I would get restless, wanting more, wanting my own story. I tried many things to no avail. As the years went by, I settled into a 9-5 job, where I fell into a routine.

In the 90's I lost one of my dearest brothers. Way of living and thinking changes after you lose someone you love. My brother always did his own thing. He took chances and made things happen, made his own life. I too wanted to make things happen. What did I or could I do? I didn't have a clue. Then…

One night I was sound asleep when suddenly I opened my eyes and there before me stood a misty spirit by my side. I felt my heart beating out of my chest. Each breath I took I exhaled fear. Then as quickly as this appeared I fell in a deep comfort of sleep.

The next morning, I tried to make sense of it all. Was it a dream or did I see a spirit? I couldn't shake it off. For days something kept nagging at me. I felt there was something I needed to do, but what? Later in the week while shopping I noticed a billboard that caught my eye. It was an invitation for a charcoal art class. I thought, try it, for some reason I felt I needed to try it. I signed up, went to the store, bought myself a kit of color charcoal and went to class.

I would like to say the rest is history here, but it was only the beginning for me. I drew what I felt inside me. It was different from everyone else. I was invited to a local art show where my art was well received. People would ask about my art. As I spoke of them, I realized I not only gave them names, but I felt compelled to give each one a bio of their own, which I attach to each print.

As quickly as this all came to life, I paused on my art to take care of my mother full time. It' been a few years since my mother's passing. After going through my things, I found shops my artwork and realize my journey is not over. Thinking back to the night this journey began I believe I was blessed with a creative spirit guide or a loving brother watching over me.
