A sea glass gem, red seaglass is one of the rarest finds and such a joy when you pick it from the beach.

When I found this beautiful piece of red sea glass, on the beach at Saltburn and I just knew I wanted to spend time in making it a unique design, as finding a piece of red seaglass is such a momentous occasion.

In this piece I have used a piece of broken fossil to create the design of the fish fin, I have then set the mould with silver and bent and shaped the edges to give the piece motion. It wasn't my easiest piece to make and it certainly tested my patience but I have truly loved making this piece. Working hard to get the shape and indentations of the texture just right and then hand setting the sea glass onto the bezel. A completely unique design, the only one of its kind. I am so pleased with the finished result, it will make a beautiful gift for anybody wanting their own sea jewel.

Antique Red seaglass is so rare as little of it was shops made. The Victorians used gold to colour the glass red, Ruby glass as it was known.
