Pine Table lamp, completely handmade by cutting and assembling various size of wooden strips.
The lamp is a tribute to the discography and to the iconography of the London Punk group Sex Pistols; it is equipped with a removable wooden lid made up by crossed strips that make up the letter A, the acronym of Anarchy, a categorical imperative of Punk philosophy.
The frames are handmade decorated , with iconographic motifs that express a clear "ideological contrast": on one hand the emblems of the monarchy (the English flag and the Queen), on the other shops the "slogans" of Punk, words and invectives extrapolated from lyrics of the infamous Sex Pistols songs, cropped and glued in bulk; the prints reproduce the posters of their concerts and the covers of their albums.
The used materials are of natural origin and the entire handmade manufacturing process was carried out in respect of the Environment. I used the natural wood for the construction of the frame, and the traditional Japanese Washi paper for the creation of the lampshade. The adhesives and paints used for gluing and finishing are mostly water-based.
