ESD Nursery Themed Cookie Biscuit Jar Hand Painted Mid-Century 1950s 1960s Made in Japan Enterprise Sales and Distributing shops Toronto Canada

ESD was a Canadian company, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, that imported Japanese made goods for the decor and gift market during the last mid-century. It is often used interchangeably with the American company, Lefton. While shops the owners of the two companies would often travel on buying trips together, they were two distinct companies. However, many of the items purchased by each company were often similar or even identical.

This listing is for an incredible, vintage, ceramic cookie jar, made in Japan for ESD. It features an adorable nursery theme with cute anthropomorphic or toy animals in recessed spaces around the exterior of the jar, and a sweet kitten on the lid. It is circa 1950s - 1960s. It measures approximately 6 inches high, not including the lid, and 6.75 inches across.

What an amazing and unique gift this would make for an expectant parent or newborn as decor for the nursery. It could be used to hold a variety of items for baby, such as socks, washcloths, creams, cleansers, bibs, etc.

It would be the centrepiece of the kitchen used for its original purpose to hold cookies or biscuits. And what a special addition it would be for the collector.

This is a hard to find item, and these have often sustained damage over the years. This one is in good pre-loved condition. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. There are some scuff marks on the interior. There may be some crazing. Please view all photos for details.
