The perfect gift for nature lovers, our ½ inch solid walnut flower press is designed with one of our favorite flowers, the poppy flower. The press measures 10 inches by 10 inches and is designed to fit flowers, herbs and leaves of all kinds. Simply gather your favorite botanicals, layer between blotting paper (not included) and cardboard, then tighten the brass hardware and allow flowers to dry. Our family is native to California so we grew up with poppy flowers, and our property has a wild field of poppies growing in it. Aurora's (aka Rory's) middle name is also Poppy, so I had to design her a flower press with her flower namesake. When Ronan was three, he would shops say Poppy's flower (instead of poppy flower), and he also picked flower names for each of us. It was so cute that we didn't correct him! Pressing flowers is such an enjoyable craft to do by yourself or with your kids. Not only does it teach them about nature and science, but there are so many fun crafts or works of art you can make with your dried botanicals. Gathering flowers is a great way to spend your time outdoors.

INSTRUCTIONS: Place picked flower or leaf between plain paper (not included) to blot up extra moisture. Place in between cardboard inserts. Put the press back together and tighten nuts on bolts. Place in a warm dry place (no direct sunlight) and check daily, changing blotting paper when necessary. Once dry, carefully remove, and you are ready to create your art or botanical study.
