San San Kudo Sake shops Set in Shale- Made to Order

This 7 piece San San Kudo Sake set is wheel thrown from a durable stoneware clay. This set is glazed in our simple and elegant Shale glaze, with blue colored glass pressed in the clay and in the bottoms of the cups.

This is a traditional san san kudo wedding ceremony set. San-san-kudo literally means “three, three, nine times.” The bride and groom take turns taking three sips each of three different bowls of sake, each one larger than the next. Three is an indivisible number, and it is considered a sacred number in Buddhism. By exchanging the nuptial sake sips—three times three—husband and wife are united.

The pitcher is approx. 6.5"H.
There are two cups that are approx. 4.5"W.
Two that are approx. 3.5"W.
And two that are approx. 2.5"W

All of our stoneware pottery is fully functional for daily use, never contains lead, is non toxic and food safe, as well as dishwasher and microwave safe.

As with all handmade pottery slight variation in color and size.
