Pedestal shops Bowl

shops I turned this interesting pedestal bowl on the lathe in my shop. The pedestal is composed maple donuts screwed together in the center. The bowl is also maple, colored with paints containing iron particles which have oxidized, just as they would in nature, except overnight instead of over years. The interior of the bowl is finished with food safe beeswax and the exterior is left unfinished. The pedestal stands 8.5 inches high and the bowl is 6.25 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep. The walls of the bowl are .4 inches thick.
The bottom of the pedestal is broad enough to add a secure feel to the piece.
