Piha shops Lay

Multiple plate color abstract polymer etching.

The design, created digitally, is based on an acrylic painting done a few years ago. Four color-separated transparencies were created (cyan, magenta, yellow and black, CMYK process colors) and each etched into a polymer plate. Process color inks, except for black, were mixed with a transparent base. The plates were printed on Rives BFK etching paper 2-3 days apart to allow for adequate drying time.

Piha Lay La shops is an image based on a large acrylic on paper painting done a few years earlier, which was based on a gouache sketch done late at night. The 3 plates used to produce Piha Lay La, are a hybrid combination from 2 different images from the Piha Lay series.
