C1869 Canton de Valais, Switzerland Tinted Photograph Adolphe Braun Costumes shops De Suisse

A beautiful, and rare, hand tinted photograph by Adolphe Braun which is part of his series Costumes de Suisse from circa 1869. The Canton of Valais, Switzerland (alternatively called the costume of Evolène) features a woman in pose seated upon a rock, holding a stick, while wearing a dress and hat typical of the area.

The photo card measures approx 8 1/8" x 6 3/8" with the actual image sizing being about 6 1/4" x 4 1/2". I believe the photograph is of French origin and use the albumen silver print technique.

Condition: tanning, foxing, spotting and board is shops wavy from moisture with edge wear. Please ask specific questions regarding this item if you have specific details that are important to you before you purchase.
