Sterling Silver shops El Sol Lost Wax Sun Pendant Deerskin Leather Cord Sterling Closure

Back again for another season, I call this guy El Sol, Spanish for The Sun. That is one thing we can always count on for sure is the return of the sun in our lives! I modified a previous sun carving in wax and cast it myself in Sterling silver. I applied a gold tone patina for the rustic golden accent, which casts an evening sun kissed sort of shadow on the face, and hung shops him on knotted deerskin leather. I hand forged the hook and eye clasp and soldered rings to attach the closure to the sterling silver leather crimp end pieces. It gives the design a very finished, more refined look for such a casual, funky piece.

The sun, as symbol of the Higher Self, is the means by which the lower consciousness can rise to join the higher consciousness. The Self is the center for all perception and this is where one can connect with nature at its highest profundity. However, as the sun symbol is found in all cultures throughout history, it is considered by most a cosmic power outside of us. Ancient Chinese culture viewed the sun as the Male Principle, the ultimate Yang. The sun has also been personified as a cosmic eye viewing out upon its domain. In Christianity the sun is the house of Michael the archangel, and is also a symbol of the Christ, or Christ-like attributes. In Hindu mythology the sun is the divine rejuvenator.
