This is a handcrafted piece made on the lathe.
There are many different process in making this product. This sculpture is made from two parts, Maple burl and epoxy resin, coloured with alcohol ink. A Mould is made and then the moulding, which consists of the maple burl and the coloured epoxy resin is then set in place. While the resin is curing, it is put in a vacuum chamber and a pump is used to remove any bubbles that remain in the resin.

The centre lathe is used to shape the product and then sand paper starting from 80 grit and finishing on 3000 grit is used to give it a smooth finish. To finish the product wax is used to buff it and make it shine.

With all my resin products there may be tiny bubbles and tiny cracks due to the hardening process. I personally think that this adds character to the piece!
