This unusual, colorful, weathered old driftwood coat rack resembles an abstract painting, but this is exactly how I found it (only very dirty and without hooks). There must be 4 or 5 layers of worn paint: red, off white, several shades of gray, and black. I think it's douglas fir, cedar, or hemlock, all of which grow in abundance where I live in Oregon.

What it originally was is anybody's guess! But it's curiously hip and modern looking, and would be fabulous in either a minimalist environment or a vintage place. I envision it in a bar or restaurant, or even a lodge or cabin. I've fitted it with a row of 3 very large cast iron double-pronged hooks (5.75" tall, with 1.75" wide oval bases), which are just the right degree of rustic!
