"Classy Scrappy" is a shops perfect title for this 16" x 45" patchwork table runner. This beautiful table topper was, as the name implies, created with a myriad of high-quality fabric scraps that I've saved from years of quilting.....and I remember each scrap and project.

I put this quilt in an 'organized-scrappy' category as each finished 3/4" strip was carefully selected to play nicely with its neighbor in a 3" block. Placement of the blocks took a bit of consideration as my goal was to create even color distribution. And Voilà .....a perfectly playful table runner was fabricated. But it wasn't complete until I added a white half-inch 3-D flange to frame the quilt body and a 1 1/2" turquoise Kona Cotton Solid border. I love adding white to my quilts. It pops color! So I bound this runner in white to mirror the flange.

The quilt top is sandwiched with a layer of Warm and Natural cotton batting and a pieced backing made primarily from a cream color Aboriginal Dot fabric by Kaffe Fasset. But I didn't have enough, so I inserted and few stripes.....after all, it is a scrappy quilt! As the quilt body is so elaborate with color and prints, I didn't want to complicate it with a complex quilting pattern, so I quilted each block in-the-ditch.

This radiant runner will compliment any surface...natural wood, cottage white, modern glass or stainless steel and will reside in harmony on any table, sideboard or bureau in any décor. It's also ageless as it will appeal to young and old. And with the quality of my workmanship, this quilt will withstand all the experiences that come her way.

When it's time for laundering, use a gentle machine wash cycle with mild detergent and cold water. Line drying is preferred, but tumble drying is a definite option. Once laundered, this quilt will have a wonderful crinkly look about it. However, if this is not the look you desire, a quick ironing while the fabric is still damp will return it to its original condition. For an even crisper look, add a touch spray starch.
