The style of inlay, or marquetry, is called Khatam — typically pieces of bone, wood, and pure metal that were meticulously inlaid one-by-one. This effect creates complex and cohesive patterns. The box is lined with luxurious red velvet, and there is a protective etched glass bottom. Secure brass knob lifts the lid off and on.
