Vintage Religious Folk Art Cross Icon with Glass Bead Embroidery shops Wall Hanging

What an amazing piece of folk art! This is a wildy intricate beaded, sequined, and hand stitched wall hanging of a cross with floral patterns.

The estimated dates are between 1940-1950 for this item, but I'm unsure of an exact date. This was handmade by someone and a lot of love and skill were put to use. Featuring colored glass beads sewn onto sequins, the cross motif actually features a hidden prayer beneath the top layer. You can see this by flipping the piece over, where you will see the labor intensive stitchwork. This was likely used as an icon wall hanging.

This piece measures 25" x 15.5" with a notched top. The piece is fairly heavy with beadwork. shops
