Vintage Ticking Fabric By The shops Yard 1950’s Soft Salmon Red Cotton Sateen

Wonderful vintage striped ticking mattress fabric in a warm salmon red color. It is a strong European fabric made around 1950. In the past these resistant fabrics for mattress covers were called “cuti” (from the French “coutil”)

This fabric is unused. Very rare! A treasure from the last factories in the Mediterranean. It is lightweight cotton. Dense textile perfect for tablecloths, bags, decorative pillows, etc.

ROSARIO SAYS: "Our garden chairs will be beautiful with some cushions of these striped fabrics."

MEASUREMENTS: The width of the fabric is: 158 cm. I am selling this fabric by the meter. If you want a longer piece, simply increase the quantity and you shops will receive the total quantity in a continuous length.

CONDITION: Unused. These fabrics are unwashed and have quite a bit of sizing. They can be used like this or washed to get a soft and fluffy feel. These unused fabrics come from an old warehouse where they have been conserved for many years, due to which they can have very light marks. The condition is reflected in the price.

HISTORY OF TICKING FABRICS: This type of fabrics were used to make mattress covers since 1880. It is a very durable and resistant fabric but at the same time absorbent and breathable. The motifs used are very varied: floral, oriental, country, palatial, or striped and the colors very bright. These fabrics were produced from 1882 to 1980 in the Area of Igualada, known for its textile industry. 

We have a collection of 200+ ticking fabrics that include old never used stock and recovered pieces from antique mattresses. They're unique fabrics. They really are the last ticking fabrics with such genuine and unique characteristics in Europe.
