This wonderful early stoneware jug was made by a highly skilled potter. Made on a potter's wheel and has a hand applied handle; you can see and feel where the potter formed and pressed the handle into place with his fingers. ( I always find this so interesting). Also, you can see and feel the rings or ridges that are left shops by the potter's fingers when he turned this jug on the potter's wheel. Condition: Very good condition, especially considering it's age. Surface and firing imperfections as expected with a piece of stoneware that was made so long ago.some chips on the bottom, they can't be seen when sitting upright. Thick walls; it weighs 5.5 lbs.
